Vann Recognized with Prestigious Hicks Award

GADSDEN, AL, January 29, 2020—Gadsden Regional Medical Center Emergency Department Medical Director, Andy Vann, M.D., was recognized as the 2019 recipient of Gadsden Regional Medical Center’s Chester Hicks, M.D., Award.
The award is “presented to a physician who demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality service by meeting or exceeding our patients’ needs with care, compassion and courtesy, by demonstrating commitment to teamwork and GRMC goals, by optimizing resources, and by creating and maintaining a respectful, safe, and caring environment.”
Dr. Vann has served on the medical staff at GRMC for 3 years.
A nomination for Dr. Vann reads, “Dr. Vann consistently displays values and behavior consistent with our Chester Hicks winners. He always goes the extra mile for his patients, staff and family while delivering high quality care. Dr. Vann has led our department to operate at higher levels by setting an example of true leadership. He is calm, respectful and always open to hear improvement ideas from members of the team.”
Dr. Chester Hicks, for whom the award is named, was on hand to present the award to Dr. Vann at a reception at the Kiwanis Pavilion at Noccalula Falls.
Previous winners of the prestigious award are the late Dr. Newt Godfree, Dr. Lowndes Harrison, Dr. Darryl Prime, Dr. Terry Robinson, Dr. James Phillips, the late Dr. Richard Rutland, Dr. Homer Spencer and Dr. Alberto Echeverri.
