The American College of Cardiology has recognized Gadsden Regional Medical Center for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain.
“Today we know that standardizing best practices related to cardiac care saves lives. Our focus and desire to seek this award is exactly for that reason, to impact our community by improving cardiac care,” Martha Seahorn, CNO, said. “This award demonstrates that GRMC is excelling in providing outstanding cardiac care to our patients through evidenced based best practice and community education and awareness.”
Seahorn added that this award validates that not only is the staff doing the right things related to cardiac intervention and care but they have demonstrated success in positive patient outcomes.
Gadsden Regional Medical Center was awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI in August based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack. Hospitals receiving Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation from the ACC must take part in a multi-faceted clinical process that involves:
- completing a gap analysis
- examining variances of care
- developing an action plan
- a rigorous onsite review
- monitoring for sustained success.
